Rooted Wednesdays Vol. 1: Practice Over Performance

Whats On My Hair
Lately, I’ve been going back to the basics to heal some breakage I’ve been seeing in my kitchen area. Instead of rushing, I’m reclaiming my wash day as a hobby, not a chore.
I’ve added pre-pooing back into my routine—specifically using the African Pride Pre-Poo—to give my curls the slip and protection they need before I even touch the shampoo. I’m also putting down the brushes and getting back to finger detangling to really feel what my hair needs.
Whats On My Heart
I realized I was starting to treat my hair care like a performance for an audience instead of a relationship with myself. I was chasing "results"—the longest, thickest version of my hair—instead of honoring the version that exists right now, breakage and all.
I’m learning that health isn't just about what things look like on the surface; it's about the quality of the relationship you have with the process.
Where have you been chasing a result instead of enjoying the ride?
From My Wash Day to Yours,
