Rooted Wednesdays Vol. 11 Learning to not run from the “boring”

Whats On My Hair
I tried a flexi rod set for the first time… and I actually like it (day 5 hair pictured above).
it made me realize finding your signature look with your natural hair takes a little exploration first.
twists, twist outs, braids, braid outs, flexi rods, perm rods, wash and gos… try different things and pay attention to how you feel in each one.
not just how it looks but how you feel.
then once you find the one that feels like you, stick with it.
consistency lets you perfect it.
your hair starts to respond better.
everything becomes easier… even if it feels a little boring sometimes.
but that kind of “boring” is where growth actually happens.
Whats On My Heart
just like I don’t make sudden, irreversible changes to my hair when i get bored with it…
I'm learning not to do that in my life either.
after reflecting on the first quarter of this year, I noticed a pattern.
when things feel slow or mundane, I reach for excitement.
something new. something different. something to shake it up.
but most of the time… it pulls me out of alignment.
out of consistency with my finances,
my habits,
my health.
and I’m realizing life isn’t always supposed to feel exciting.
sometimes it’s steady. sometimes it’s quiet. sometimes it’s repetitive.
and that’s not a sign to run…
that’s the foundation being built.
no need to escape it.
how do I discern when I need real joy… and when I’m just trying to escape discomfort?
trusting April will be good to you,
Jasmine💛
