Rooted Wednesdays Vol. 25 On temporary seasons

Whats on my hair
Lately I’ve been wearing my hair in a puff/pineapple and being really intentional about not doing slick backs that require a ton of gel. Nothing too tight, too dry, or too stiff.
It’s funny how the smallest changes can have the biggest impact on long-term outcomes. Simply slowing down and being fully present every time you touch or style your hair helps you notice what it actually needs. You start feeling the difference instead of forcing a routine because you think you should.
Your hair is always communicating with you. The more present you become, the easier it is to hear it. Even on the days it doesn’t feel like you’re making progress.
What’s on my heart
What a strange yet beautiful time to have goals and dreams.
Lately they’ve felt so far away. But oddly enough… that’s been freeing.
I’ve realized so much of my frustration came from treating my current season like it was my forever season, as if where I am today is where I’ll always be.
But the moment I stopped assigning permanence to a temporary season, gratitude had room to return.
I’ve started appreciating the things that won’t last forever. Today won’t return. Everything is changing, moment by moment.
And maybe that’s the connection between my hair and my heart this week.
Neither responds well to force. Both ask me to pay attention to what’s right in front of me instead of constantly reaching for what’s next.
And here's your reminder that this is how we truly get to where we’re trying to go. Not by rushing, but by trusting that being fully present with today’s version of ourselves, and the small actions we take day by day, will prepare us for the opportunities that come with life’s inevitable changes. And trusting that, even when it doesn’t look like it at first, those changes are always working in our favor.
From my wash day to yours,
Jasmine
