Whats on my hair + heart
Lately, I've been letting my hair be.
Not because it's exactly where I want it to be, but because for the first time in a while... I'm actually just enjoying it.
There are still pieces I'd change. I still notice the shorter hairs. I still have moments where I wonder how much longer until it looks the way I've imagined.
But what if I enjoyed this version too?
My hair will never be perfect, so why am I waiting for a version that doesn't exist before I let myself love it completely?
Similarly, my heart has been doing the same thing.
I've noticed how quickly I try to solve discomfort by changing something outside of me.
Maybe I need a different career because this one feels unsatisfying.
Maybe I need new clothes because my closet suddenly feels empty.
Maybe I need a new routine, a new purchase, a new plan.
It's so easy to find lack. It's so easy to compare. It's so easy to dream about what's next that we forget to ask what's already here.
And I've been wondering...
What can I access without changing the physical?
Can peace exist before the promotion?
Can confidence exist before the shopping spree?
Can gratitude exist before my hair reaches the length I've been praying for?
I think so.
There's something deeply satisfying about believing you can always reach for more, yet always be enough.
The desire doesn't disappear. The vision doesn't disappear. And honestly, I don't think it should.
You just stop putting your joy and peace on hold until it arrives.
This week, I'm practicing letting things be. Observing expectations without submitting to them. I would hate to overlook the things that one day I might long for.
Until next wash day,
Jasmine 🤍
