Rooted Wednesdays Vol. 27 The butterfly effect
Aktie
Whats on my heart
Our small, day-to-day habits feel pointless. Almost insignificant.
To some, they're so insignificant they've become autopilot.
But they matter. They add up. They change our trajectory over time.
I mean... who else is wondering how it's almost August already?
Exactly.
Time is flying, and habits are stacking. Whether you're choosing them intentionally or not.
Lately, I've caught myself rushing toward the next season.
I'll feel better when... I'll be more confident when... I'll finally relax once...
But I don't want ambition to keep sneaking in and stealing my focus from the present moment.
Because if I'm always chasing the next season, I'll miss the one that's happening right now.
There's a concept called the butterfly effect, the idea that something incredibly small can influence something much bigger over time.
And I love what it reminds me of:
Small things matter. They rarely feel important while we're doing them.
They matter because they add up.
When I first committed to washing my hair every week, I knew those wash days would help my hair over months and years.
But they also changed my hair in just a few hours literally, from the beginning of wash day to the end. Now less tangled, less dry, less stressed.
The long-term growth mattered.
But so did the immediate transformation.
I think our daily habits work the same way.
Yes, reading ten pages a day might shape who you become years from now.
But it also changes who you are today.
A gratitude letter may not change your entire life overnight.
But it can change your morning.
Tracking your spending won't build wealth in a day.
But it might build awareness before bedtime.
Stretching for ten minutes won't make you flexible overnight.
But maybe your shoulders feel a little lighter afterward.
Sometimes we dismiss these tiny decisions because they don't seem dramatic enough.
But meaningful doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks ordinary. And ordinary, repeated over time, changes everything.
So, what small habit feels meaningful to you today?
Because just like hair growth, some of the most beautiful transformations happen so slowly that we don't notice them until we look back.
When you look back a year from now...
What growth are you hoping to see?
Happy Rooted Wednesday,
Jasmine
