Rooted Wednesdays Vol. 19 Are you trusting the rest too?

Whats On My Hair + Whats On My Heart

it’s easy to think productivity is the cause of growth. and that’s true. but what’s also true is that rest is what allows the productivity to work.

lately, I’ve been careful not to take advice (online or off) without balance. because while action is needed, so is rest. and I think sometimes we live in a world that praises movement so much that we start feeling guilty anytime we pause.

and honestly, the rest seems harder to trust sometimes. especially coming out of seasons where rest felt lazy, unproductive, or like falling behind. sometimes resting can almost feel uncomfortable because you’re no longer distracting yourself with constant doing.

but I’m learning that healthy things usually grow through ebbs and flows. work and pause. giving and receiving. effort and recovery.

even with hair, growth doesn’t happen from constant manipulation. sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is nourish it… and leave it alone long enough to do what it’s already designed to do.

trust in the work.
trust in the rest.
trust in giving.
trust in receiving.

what would change if you trusted both equally?

are you allowing yourself to recover too? or only allowing yourself to produce?

from my wash day to yours,
Jasmine
